Heal yourself harder
Heal Yourself Harder is an ongoing series of works that reflects universal experience of the pressure to adapt, adjust, and reshape oneself in order to be accepted by others and by the systems we inhabit.
The series explores how structures of belonging often operate through subtle mechanisms of reduction and normalization. Instead of openly demanding obedience, they encourage individuals to smooth out their differences, adjust their behavior, and gradually shift their personal boundaries. In this process, the desire to belong becomes intertwined with acts of self-modification.
The title Heal Yourself Harder refers ironically to contemporary narratives of self-improvement and resilience, which often place responsibility for systemic pressures on the individual. Rather than questioning the structures that produce discomfort, the individual is encouraged to adjust further, work harder on themselves, and transform vulnerability into productivity.
