Monsters of loneliness

‘Monsters of Loneliness’ is an artist book by Sylwia Zawiślak, combining printmaking with authorial narrative. The publication explores the experience of loneliness and alienation in the contemporary world, portraying it through the metaphorical figures of monsters. Each character becomes a visual symbol of emotions such as fear, uncertainty and alienation.

In Monsters of Loneliness, Sylwia Zawiślak, a Polish visual artist, creates an evocative story about the human condition. The book contains a series of monochrome prints made using the linocut technique, complemented by short texts introducing the reader to an intimate world of emotions and inner experiences.

The publication was created during an artist residency in Basel and was published by Edition Valnod in a limited edition. It is a unique artbook, combining traditional printing techniques with reflections on contemporary psychology and human relationships.
